HarbourVest has a long and distinguished history of investing in global private equity.  The experience of the HarbourVest team dates back to the late 1970s when our founders began making venture capital investments.  In 1982, we formed our first fund with $148 million of committed capital to invest in U.S. private equity partnerships and operating companies.  Since then, we have formed seven additional U.S. programs, five non-U.S. programs, six secondary programs, and two co-investment programs.

While a lot has changed in 28 years, the individuals on our investment team remain the same, and the same skills used to evaluate investments over the years remain at the root of our investment process.  Today, HarbourVest and its subsidiaries serve 300 investors and have more than 200 employees deployed in Boston, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.  We are a global leader with an established local presence, investing half of our capital in non-U.S. markets and managing assets for institutions based in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
